Longmont Humane Society Allen Center
Saving More Lives
After 10 years of what began as a modest shelter founded by a compassionate group has developed into a sanctuary dedicated to creating meaningful change, it became clear that a new shelter was necessary to address the growing needs of the community. In 1985, the construction of “the dome” shelter marked a significant advancement in their ability to care for pets. Longmont Humane Society earned recognition from the American Humane Association (AHA) Standards of Excellence program, becoming one of the few shelters nationwide to receive this honor. However, as the surrounding community continued to grow, they soon outgrew this facility, as well.
In response to overcrowding in 2008, they were at it again, launching a second capital campaign that led to the establishment of the Longmont Humane Society Allen Center, a 58,000 square foot facility capable of housing over 200 dogs, cats, and small mammals. Through thoughtful collaboration with Animal Arts, our team was able to provide the necessary lighting, power, and technology design for a smarter, safer, more efficient shelter to care for animals for years to come. Now, the dedicated staff of 80 and 400 volunteers are able to care for more than 4,000 animals each year in the new facility.
