Dumb Friends League
Dumb Friends, Smart Solutions
Dumb Friends League has over 100 years of deeply rooted history in Denver, dating back to 1910. The organization started with adoptable cats and small dogs but quickly grew, expanding their adoptions to large dogs, guinea pigs, mice, and even horses!
In order to more efficiently serve the 18,000 furry friends that come through those shelter doors every year, the Denver Dumb Friends League facility needed a major revamp.
We teamed up with Animal Arts to complete the 110,000 square foot remodel/addition to update and replace the outdated areas and equipment that no longer fulfill the needs of the facility. New spaces included new state-of-the-art dog adoption wing, expanded veterinary clinic with a dental suite, two surgery suites, intensive care units, expanded isolation areas, a long-term cat care ward to provide low-stress care, a behavior and foster wing, a dedicated level for intake and transfer with expanded holding areas, a rooftop dog exercise yard, and last but not least, an education pavilion, all needing innovative and integrated lighting design, electrical engineering, low-voltage, and audio/visual systems.
